This square is a place of passage for pedestrians and workers in the business district, with underground crosswalks leading to the Esplanade de La Défense metro station, as well as access to the Grande Arche and the surrounding towers. The Place Basse is a meeting place, for a lunch on one of the many terraces of the restaurants and cafes of the square or simply a little fresh air. The square also offers a pleasant setting for a stroll, with benches and planters. The Place Basse is also a place for cultural, sporting and festive events, such as concerts and pétanque competitions! Place Basse is a lively and practical place that embodies the friendly and dynamic spirit of La Défense.
