Île-de-France

The Île-de-France project was initially to be entrusted to Paul La Mache and was to resemble a group of low pyramid-shaped buildings. A project that was to be abandoned, leaving the new architects, Roger Saubot and François Jullien, with a restrictive master plan. The building, located between the Antlantic Tower and the Ève Tower, must not exceed 32 m in height. The project managers then took up the principle of construction on stilts to which they combined the facades of the buildings of the 1980s in bluish-grey tinted glass.
The concrete framework remains visible. Like stilts, the posts are indeed very present.

A word about the architects

The Saubot et Jullien agency was founded in 1964 by Roger Saubot (1931-1999) and François Jullien. The two architects specialise in the construction of high-rise commercial buildings for which they partner with major international names. In 1969 and 1978, they signed two buildings with the American agency Skidmore, Owings and Merrill: the Areva Tower and the Sgam building.
Following the example of Henri La Fonta, Roger Saubot and François Jullien established themselves as the great architects of La Défense, working on a total of 11 projects and participating in the transition to buildings with lower energy costs.
