The Corolles Fountain - Louis Leygue

"Take advantage of the opportunity you are given to express something," is how Louis Leygue described poetry. This principle applied to art allowed him to imagine this artwork in copper, composed of superimposed cups from which water cascades down to end its course in a square basin. It inspired her name to the "Place des Corolles", where it is installed.

A word about the artist

Born in 1905, Louis Leygue was interested in Rodin and Romanesque art from his adolescence before discovering Baroque art during his travels in Italy. As a student at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he learns the particular technique of large sculptures. Open-minded and curious, he seeks to reconcile modernity and tradition, creating the essence of his artwork in his studio. Collaborating with the great architects of his time, he became the first to integrate sculpture "into architecture".
